Day 3 and 4 - In Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg

More interesting facts about Germany:

1. Their daylight is from 5am to 10pm - can you believe it? haha! it means that there's more time for me to explore the place! but too bad most shops closes at about 7 or 8pm. i hate going home after it gets dark though, cos the streets are really quiet and very very dark. O.o i miss Singapore's lights haha

2. They are REALLY into recycling and protecting the environment here - the plastic water bottles you drink can be refunded for money at almost every supermarket or minimarts =D you get about 40 to 50 cents SGD for every bottle, so my host family collects all the paper and plastic stuff to recycle. =D i'm getting the hang of it, and also not using plastic bags here cos they don't give plastic bags freely when you buy stuff unless you ask for it. i like being nice to the earth. heh.

Now, for pictures and updates when i leave Frankfurt for Stuttgart (the place i'm studying at) and Ludwigsburg (a town in Stuttgart where I live) =D Frankfurt is lovely but i think i like Stuttgart more because of the scenery and the vast greenery in Luwigsburg, not mentioning their palaces and cool shops too!

Presenting... (if you haven't seen my facebook photo album)

My host family's house!! (PS: there's no photos of my host family because wanwei and i reached their house two days before they arrive back from their vacation, hence we sorta had the house to us alone for two days haha. their neighbour gave us a tour around the house and the keys to the house though - and we loved it instantly =D it's a 5star hotel cum all the warmth you get from a family! i'm really thankful to have them and to have a chance to stay here! =) =) and of course we snapped tons of pics heh

overview

Photobucket
my room, at the third level =) the stairs climbing is a tad tough but after all the sausages and fries, i think it's good to workout every night climbing them. haha! and we have to walk for about 15 mins every morning to get to their subway station, so i feel really healthy here! But yeah, there are temptations, like their 70cents single scoop ice cream and yoghurt (which i swore to eat at least one a day cos they are so yummy =D) and yes, chocolates are my ultimate weakness. you'll see more pics of chocs soon. haha! okay, moving on...

Photobucket
our host mom prepared drinks and glasses on a silver platter outside our rooms! it's really 5star hotel treatment haha

Photobucket
and the best part - they left gifts for us!!! we each get a cup with the words of the town (ludwigsburg) on it, with the picture of a palace and Rapunzel's (remember the fairy tale?) tower. we went to visit the actual tower that inspired the fairy tale a few days ago and that'll be elaborated later yeah ;)

open area in Stuttgart. I can't wait for euro 2008 to start! my architecture teacher said that this area will be converted to a huge screening place for euro 2008 and hundreds of people will be sitting here watching the live matches and there'll be beer gardens and stuff. coool!!! =D heh.

and i kept seeing tons of Germany flags everywhere because the atmosphere for euro 2008 is building up. it's really interesting to see the whole country getting hyped up over a football season haha! everyone will have flags on their cars, on every house etc. it's better than national day man. =P my host mom's goddaughter said that during world cup everyone partied like crazy too. haha
